World Elder Abuse Awareness Day (WEAAD) is commemorated each year on June 15th to highlight one of the worst manifestations of ageism and inequality in our society, elder abuse.Elder abuse is any act that causes harm to an older person and is carried out by someone they know and trust, such as a family member or friend. The abuse may be physical, social, financial, psychological, or sexual and can include mistreatment and neglect. In many parts of the world, elder abuse occurs with little recognition or response. It is a global social issue that affects the health, well-being, independence, and human rights of millions of older people worldwide and an issue that deserves the attention of all in the community.DOVES is here for all survivors of domestic violence regardless of age. If you know an elder that is in need of safe shelter or services please assist them in calling us at 1-800-221-4361 See MoreSee Less

June is Pride month where we as a nation commemorate the impact that LGBTQ individuals have had on history locally, nationally, and internationally.Campaigns and rallies aim to promote and preserve the history and well-being of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community. DOVES would like to take this opportunity to let our LGBTQ+ community know that we do not discriminate and welcome all who are survivors of domestic violence to receive services they are in need of including safe shelter and advocacy. As we honor and celebrate acceptance of sexual diversity this month, please be aware that DOVES is a welcoming and non judgmental safe place for all experiencing domestic violence and dating violence.
